Valentine's Card - Chalkboard style!

Hello Friends and Happy MLK Day! Did you have a great weekend? I sure did, my husband and I had "date night" on Saturday and we went to the movies to see Gangster Squad. It was good, I wish it had a little more action but the story line was great. Okay, are you getting tired of my chalkboard cards yet? :-) I promise this will be the last one (for a little while anyway!). I think this card would make a nice Valentine's Day card and I absolultey love the sentiment! I used two stamp sets by Papertrey Ink, Sending My Love and Simply Jane. I wish my embossing would have come out a little smoother, but I guess you get a more handmade look that way (at least that's what I'm telling myself!). Well, that's it for me today. Will you be watching the Inauguration today? I have the day off and I will definitely be watching! Enjoy your day and as always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Card plus CD Holder

Hello Friends! I hope you all have had a wonderful week! I'm so sorry that I've been absent but I have had some computer problems this week! Thankfully all is well now, so I thought I would get a quick post in while the going is good! :-) Today I have a card and CD holder that I sent to a crafty friend of mine. As you can see, that chalkboard technique is really going to get some good use around here!
I also made a CD holder for a tutorial I downloaded for her. The CD holder was so easy to make because Cammie (my Silhouette) did pretty much all of the work for me! She cut and perferated the holder and all I had to do was fold and tape, you can't beat that!
Don't you just love the pink CD!! That was a happy find at Staples. :-) Well, I hope you all have wonderful plans for the weekend and I will be popping in again soon. Enjoy your weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Chalkboard Technique

Hello Friends! We're nearing the end of the week and hopefully you've had a good one so far! Today I have a card using the wildly popular chalboard technique. I found a fabulous tutorial by one of my stamping idols, Betsy Veldman (I'm sorry but for some reason I'm unable to add the link to the tutorial). This was such a fun card to make and it's perfect for Valentine's Day. Can you believe that Valentine's Day will be here before we know it?! It seems like I just finished making Christmas cards and now it's time for hearts, kisses, and plenty of candy!

This card was made with a great sentiment stamp by PaperTrey Ink called Sending My Love and Heart Prints. The patterned paper is the Lovely collection by Authentique, a little washi tape and a wood arrow from Studio Calico finish off the card. I have a funny feeling that you'll be seeing more of these types of cards in the near future...wink, wink. Well, I hope you all have a great day and a wonderful weekend. Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you soon!

A note of thanks

Hello Friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! We spent the weekend, relaxing, watching movies, and watching football! We went to a local sportsbar yesterday to watch the Baltmore Ravens game so we could see Ray Lewis in his last home game. What a great game, and what a wonderful way for Ray Lewis to go out. If you didn't watch it, they actually brought him in on offense (he's a defensive player for those that don't know him) for the last play of the game where he did his signature dance, it was awesome! I love football!!

Okay, back to today's post! I made this card for a sweet lady at church who makes the most delicious desserts. She made us a cake and banana pudding for Christmas and as always everything was fantastic. The family loved it! So, for this card I challenged myself to make a single layer card. Let me tell you, it was really tough! I love layers, I love embellishments, and most of all I LOVE patterned paper so for me to make a card with just stamping and a sentiment was a stretch! But, I must say it was fun and I it was a good challenge.

What do you think? I think I like the way it turned out, sweet, simple, and the colors work well together. I will definitely work on more single layer cards in the future! Well, I hope you all are having a great start to your week and thank you so much for stopping by!

Happy New Year!

Hello Friends, Happy 2013!! I hope you all rang in the new year with those you hold dear to you. My new year was pretty low key as my honey had to work. :-( But, he was with me in spirit and we were able to speak to each other as the clock stuck twelve to let each other know how much we love one another. We plan to spend today together, grilling and chilling! LOL!

So, today I thought I would share a few photos of my crafting space. I spent some time getting it cleaned up (well as much as I possibly could - is a craft room really ever clean??).

These first two photos show my craft desk which is really a kitchen countertop (not my idea, the genius belongs to our handyman Tommy!). Since my work area is long, I can hold lots of things like paper, ink, Copic markers, dies, etc. I have a couple of shelves above my desk where I keep stamp sets, buttons, other embellishments as well as punches.

This photo is on the other side of the room and this table holds my printer, sewing machine (thanks Leslie!), Cuttlebug, and other various items.

This last photo is the table that is to the right of my desk and that's where my laptop and my most fave crafting tool...my Silhouette Cameo! My honey got her for my birthday and her name is Cammie, and she is awesome!!

Well, I hope you all enjoyed getting a little peek into my crafting space! Now that's it's clean, it's time to get it messy! I should start cranking some cards out of here real soon. Enjoy your day and thanks so much for stopping by!
