Girl Talk

Hello Friends! I hope your holidays have been fabulous and you've had a chance to spend some quality time with friends and family. We had a very nice Christmas, we hosted the family at our house this year and we had an amazing time! The food was great, the company was wonderful, and Santa was good to us! :-) My husband decided to rent an old school popcorn popper for Christmas and it was a HIT! The family absolutely loved it and the popcorn was delicious! So delicious in fact, my husband decided we needed to buy one! We should have it on Thursday, LOL!! I'll be sure to post of picture when it arrives.

So, it's almost the New Year (isn't that amazing!) time sure does seem to fly! Will any of you be making New Year's Resolutions? I usually do, but I can never find where I wrote them to determine if  I actually succeeded with my goals! Now that I have a blog, I can look back at the resolutions I write today and figure out if I met my goals (not quite sure if that's a good thing!). So, without further ado, here are my resoultions for 2013:

  1. Be an awesome wife
  2. Be a fantastic friend
  3. Blog More - I would like to post at least twice per week.
  4. Read More - I think I only read 2-3 books this year and that's just not right. So, I would like to read at least 6 books next year.
  5. Work on my photography skills. If that means taking a photography class or looking up a bunch of videos on YouTube, I would like to see my pictures look better on the blog.
  6. Open my Etsy shop. This is a BIG goal for 2013, I've discussed this at length with friends and now I just need to do it!
  7. Sell my cards and other papercrafts at a local Farmer's Market. I've heard that this is a great way to get started with selling crafts on a local level.
  8. Continue to exercise at least 3-4 times per week (and hopefully drop a few pounds in the process!)
  9. Mail more cards. Isn't it funny, I make so many cards throughout the year and mail so few of them! I would really like to start mailing just because cards to friends and family just to let them know how much I love them.
I think that's a decent list! I have a couple of other personal resolutions but I think I'll write those down in my journal. :-)

And last but not least, today's card is just a cute little card that can be sent to a girlfriend to let her know you're thiking about her and want to get together. If you remember, I absolultey love that coffee cup stamp, it's truly one of my faves! Well, I hope you all enjoyed today's post and hopefully you all have some fun plans to bring in the New Year! I'll chat with you all next year!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Christmas cards

Hello Friends! Did you miss me? Sorry I've been MIA, but the holidays have really snuck up on me (as always!). I had a chance to make a few Christmas card samples for my peeps that normally buy from me so I have been busy getting those orders completed. So, since I've been absent for quite some time, today's post will be a little longer than usual. ;-) Here are pics of the cards:

Sorry for the shadow on this one, but my photography skills really need help! This cards uses a stamp set from Papertrey Ink and there's just something about that doily in the background that makes this card festive. :-)

This card also uses a stamp set from Papertrey Ink called Peaceful Pine Cones. I just love the patterned paper it's from Simple Stories.

This one uses the same Peaceful Pine cones set, but I embossed the background to give the card a "peaceful" feeling.

You can't have Christmas cards without snowmen, right?! These cute little guys really put a smile on my face.

Last but certainly not least, is my favorite card. I absolutely LOVE this sweater! This is a die cut from Papertrey Ink along with a stamp set that makes it look like it's cable sweater. The details on this card are really cute.

So, how are your holiday preparations coming along? Do you have all of your shopping done or will you be in the mall on Christmas Eve? Well, hopefully whatever it is that you still have left to do, I hope you fun doing it! It's all about being in the Christmas spirit, right?

I hope the rest of your Sunday is fantastic, and thank you so much for stopping by!

O Christmas Tree

Hello Friends! Are  you all getting into the Christmas spirit? I know I am, we picked out our tree, and put up our lights outside, it's been wonderful! So, our little tree shopping adventure took place last weekend and we go to the same place every year Bob's Trees. The trees are brought down here from Michigan and they are so beautiful. So, here's the tree we chose...(that's Bob in the background) :-)

I thought this sign was super cute...

And here's our tree all decorated...

I'm not really too happy with the way any of my pictures turned out (I keep praying that Santa brings me a camera for Christmas!) but as you can see I decided to go with purple and silver. I wanted to do something a little different and take a break from the traditional red and green, I really like how it turned out. Not to mention I bought the prettiest wrapping paper from Costco that's also purple and silver so the gifts are going to look beautiful under the tree. :-) Oh, one more thing before I go, I must show you my all-time favorite ornament...

This was a gift from my sister-in-law for our first Christmas after we got married. I just love how she's looking him. :-) Well, that's it for me today I hope you enjoyed the photos and I hope you have a great weekend!

You're too kind...

Hello Friends! Happy Saturday, woohoo it's the weekend! I'm not sure how the weather is in your neck of the woods, but we are having a beautiful blue sky, sunshiny morning here in south Florida.

Today's card features one of the cute Pure Innocence girls from My Favorite Things.  They have so many to choose from but I thought this one was really cute with her little bellbottom jeans on! :-) I colored her with Copic markers and just paper pieced her outfit. It was a quick card but I think I really like the results.

Well, this is a short post today because I have to get ready to go Christmas tree shopping! Enjoy your weekend, and thank you so much for stopping by!

Thank you and Good Luck cards

Hello Friends! I hope you're having a wonderful week, it's almost Friday! Have you all started your Christmas shopping? I've picked up a couple of gifts so far but I still have a long list to buy for! I was able to complete my Christmas card samples for my peeps that purchase them from me, so I'll be posting those in the next few days.

Today's cards are still part of the 30 card series (30 cards really is a lot!) LOL! I made two very similar cards and just added different sentiments. I really love the color combos, that blue really stands out from the orange and yellow. I used a great patterned paper pad from Jillibean Soup and I just added the tags and those cute little chipboard buttons are from Webster's Pages, a few rhinestones and some twine finish up the cards.

I'm so excited for the weekend because my honey and I are going Christmas tree shopping! I love the smell of a real tree, it just puts me right in holiday mode! We're also going to hang lights outside so we can really be in the spirit. Many of our neighbors have already put their outside lights up so we really need to get crackin' over here! Well, I hope you all have a great day and an awesome weekend. I'll be posting again real soon, I promise! Thanks for stopping by!

Get Well Soon card

Hello Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Isn't it funny how a long holiday weekend, really doesn't seem so long? I can't believe it's already Sunday just one more day until the work week begins. But, let's not chat about that, okay? Today I have a sweet Get Well Soon card and cold and flu season is definitely upon us. My sweet husband has been under the weather the better part of the weekend, but he's been a trooper and has fought his way through it! This card is another member of the 30 card batch, and I used one of my favorite stamp sets, Tea for Two from Papertrey Ink. Speaking of tea, I actually got my husband to try Chai tea for the first time and he loved it! He says "this tea is really good, why have you been holding out on me?" LOL! He has jokes even when he's sick.

Well I hope you all have a fantastic day and I truly appreciate you stopping by!

WCMD Honorable Mention!

Hello Friends! Well, I have some very exciting news to share with you today. Back in October I submitted a couple of cards to PaperCrafts magazine for their World Card Making Day contest, and one of my cards won Honorable Mention! I still cannot believe it, I was in total shock when I received the email from one of the PaperCrafts editors! I feel so bad that I didn't realize it sooner because it was originally posted on their blog on November 6th. But, I know now and I wanted to share with all of you! Here is the post from the PaperCrafts blog WCMD Honorable Mention and here's a photo of the card that was chosen:

I am so overjoyed and humbled at the same time. This experience has given me so much confidence to continue to submit more and more cards/projects. You never know, I may actually get published one day, and that would literally be a dream come true!

I hope you all have a great day, and for those of you brave enough to go Black Friday shopping, I hope you get some GREAT deals!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving friends! Don't you just love the look on this little guy's face? It literally cracks me up! This little turkey was one of the 30 cards I recently made for a co-worker so hopefully he made his way to someone's home and put a smile on their face.

I just love Thanksgiving, it's really a time to sit back and reflect on all those things we're thankful for. For me, I'm thankful for family, friends, good health, my job, my favorite passtime-papercrafting, this blog and of course all of you who swing by from time to time to get crafty with Carol! I'm looking forward to spending the day with my in-law's and eating some really good food. I'm going to try my best not to overindulge, but hey its the holidays! :-)

I hope you all have a great day and are able to spend time with those that mean the most to you. Be thankful, be blessed, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I'll be getting started on my Christmas cards (can you believe it's almost Christmas?) so I'll be posting those soon!

TGIF!!

Hello Friends! Happy Friday to all of you. Friday's are always happy days in the Weatherspoon household, it marks the end of the work week (although sometimes my hubby works on weekends), the start of the weekend, and a day that's generally relaxing and fun!

Remember I told you that I was working on a 30 card order for a co-worker of mine and I finally finished about a week ago? Well, I'm going to spend the next few posts dedicated to those cards. Since her order was for quite a few cards I decided to make 2 cards using the same layout and just change up the colors or patterned paper a bit.

As you can see with the two cards above, I chose to use a kraft card base, and the same background stamp. One background was stamped vertically and the other horizontally, then I used the beautiful flowers from a Papertrey Ink stamp set and ahered those with foam adhesive. The final touches were making a mat for my sentiment and a little patterned paper along the bottom. It's a simple, yet elegant card. The inspiration for these cards came from the super talented Nichole Heady

I hope you all enjoyed today's post, and I hope you have a great weekend!

Supplies:
Cardstock - Papertrey Ink
Stamps - Papertrey Ink (Rosie Posie)
Patterned Paper - Cosmo Cricket

P.S. I would like to wish both of my brothers (Gentry and Donnie) a Happy Birthday!

We learn something new every day

Hello Friends! I have a little trivia to share with you today. Did you know that the United States Marine Corps (USMC) is older than the United States of America? It's true, my co-worker shared this tidbit of information with me recently and I was utterly surprised. The Marines were created on November 10, 1775 and as you know the US declared it's independence on July 4, 1776. Pretty interesting, huh? You can read more about the USMC here: Wikipedia.

That bit of info brings me to my card. Not only did my co-worker share this fact with me, but she also asked me to make a card for her boyfriend. Her boyfriend served in the Marines and every year they celebrate the USMC birthday which is today. I thought that was so sweet and I was more than happy to whip up a little something for her. This is what I came up with:

This card was really fun to make. I love using patriotic colors because it just makes you feel so proud to be an American. I used a star print embossing folder for the base pattern and just built the card on top of that. I found these great Marine Corps stickers at my local scrapbook store and they fit perfectly onto my card. While we're celebrating the birthday of the Marine Corps, I would like to take this time to thank all of our brave men and women who are serving and have served in the armed forces. I appreciate all that you do!

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all of our veteran's a Happy Veteran's Day tomorrow! My husband served in the Army so I have so much gratitude for all of those who risked their lives for our freedom.

I hope you all enjoyed today's post, and I thank you so much for stopping by!

Coasters, and cards, and note cards oh my!

Good Morning Friends! Today I'm back with a fun coaster/card project. You all have heard me talk about my sweet friend Chi, well that girl has been keeping me super busy lately! She recently asked me to make coasters and card as a birthday gift for a special person that is turning 90! She's a martini drinker so I took that idea and ran with it!

Her favorite color is purple so I tried to incorporate both into the coasters and the card. I mentioned before that I make these coasters using tiles from Home Depot (who knew Home Depot was a crafty place!) and I actually used clip art from Word to add the martini glass. For the card I used the same patterened paper but used a stamp of a martini glass and cut that out of cardstock, colored with Copic markers and voila, we have a matching set!

I also made a set of note cards for Chi just to thank her for all of the business she has given me. I sent them to her about a week ago and I think she liked them! ;-)

That's all I have for today, thank you so much for stopping by!

I have a new nephew!

Hello Friends! I'm so sorry that I've been MIA from the blog lately but I've been working feverishly on a 30 card order for my co-worker. Whew, it's pretty much all of I've working on for the last couple of weekends. I'm almost done and of course I'll be sharing lots of photos very soon!

In other news, my sister recently had a little baby boy his name is Mekhi Samuel and he is a real cutie! I made this card for her shortly after she had him and she has it displayed in his room. I can't wait to meet him (they're in Ohio) but I will be traveling there real soon. I have a photo to share of him as well from Halloween.

Isn't he beautiful?! I just want to hug him and squeeze him, and kiss him!! I can't wait to get up there! Well, I hope you all enjoyed today's post and I'll be back tomorrow with a little giveaway so stay tuned! :-)

Hi There! I hope you all are having a great week, it's almost Friday! Do you ever have one of those week's where it feels like it's taking forever for the weekend to come? That's how it feels to me this week, but I did squeeze in some crafting time (thank goodness!). Today I have a couple of fun things to share with you. First is a set of coasters made from tiles from Home Depot. These are so much fun to make and with all of the beautiful patterned paper out there, you can do just about anything!

Anniversary Photos

Hi There! I know it's been a few days since I checked in but I've been busy creating wedding invitations for a very sweet co-worker of mine. I should have them done very soon and will post the finished product! Until then, I have a few photos from our anniversary weekend.

So, when my honey and I decide to take a trip we have the same criteria every time. First, the hotel room must be nice:

Second, good food is a must (ceviche anyone?!):

This dessert was delicious! It was a crepe filled with bananas, fresh whipped cream, homemade caramel sauce, toasted nuts, and vanilla ice cream. It was heavenly!

And last but certainly not least, Quality Time with each other!

That was our anniversary weekend in a nutshell. We had a great time down in Coconut Grove (Miami) and definitely plan to go back again, and again. I hope you have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Anniversary David!

Hi There! Today is a very special day for me because I've been married to the most wonderful man in the world for the last 8 years! David, I just want to take a few moments to let you know how much I love you, and how much I care about you. You are such a ray of sunshine in my life and I am so happy and blessed to have such a fantastic husband. These 8 years have gone by so quickly and when I step back to take a look at our relationship I see how much we have grown and how our love continues to blossom. When I look at you I see a man who loves the Lord, loves his wife, and loves his family. You take such great care of us and I just wanted you to know that my love for you is beyond measure, Happy Anniversary!

Let's chat a little about today's card. It's always tough for me to make a somewhat masculine card, but I think I did okay with this one. Although I chose to use ribbon at least it's a masculine shade of gray. :-) The supplies used for the card are listed below. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies:
Patterned Paper - Authentique (Curiosity)
Stamp: Papertrey Ink (Damask Designs)
Embellishments: October Afternoon (Woodland Park)

Congratulations card

Hi There! I hope your weekend is off to a great start! I am definitely looking forward to the weekend because my husband and I will be celebrating our 8 year anniversary by having a nice weekend getaway. I plan to post pics at a later date. :-) Today's card was made for my sweet friend Chi who has a friend that recently found out she's pregnant! I love hearing wonderful news like that and I was more than happy to make a card for her.

When I started thinking about the design for this card, I thought to myself what image screams baby? Well a onesie of course! So, I stamped the clotheline and stamped the onesie's onto patterned paper and cut them out. I then stamped the clothespins and cut those out as well. I used an embossing folder to create the branch-like image in the background, added the little hearts on top, the sentiment to the bottom and the rest as they say is history! My friend texted me to let me know that her friend really liked the card and that just makes my heart smile!

All supplies used are listed below, and I want to thank you so much for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Supplies:
Patterned Paper - My Mind's Eye (Indie Chic)
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Heart Prints), Avocado Arts (Hello Friend), Fiskars
Embossing Folder: Provocraft

P.S. To all of my card making friends out there...Happy World Card Making Day!!!

Happy Birthday Scrappy Chick!

Hi There! I hope you all are doing well, and are having a wonderful week so far! I would first like to say that I absolutely adore this image/stamp set! I don't have many scrappy friends, but the one friend that I do have is super scrappy and today just so happens to be her birthday! Happy Birthday Leslie!! I made this card for her (hopefully she opened it already!) and I sure hope she likes it.

I purchased this stamp set from the Close to my Heart booth at the Scrapbook Expo that was down here recently. As soon as I saw it, I knew I needed it to make a card for my friend. She was stamped then colored with Copic markers, I did a little paper piecing for her apron then added the happy birthday sentiment. This card was pretty quick to whip up considering I've been thinking about what I wanted to do for about 2 weeks! Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed today's post!

Supplies:
Patterned Paper - My Mind's Eye (Indie Chic)
Stamps - Close to My Heart (Ms.Scrapbook), happy birthday (Papertrey Ink)
Misc - Copic markers, ribbon, rhinestones

Thank You cards Part 2

Hello friends and happy Saturday! I have Part 2 of my Thank You card series today and these cards truly make me smile. The vintage camera image gives a nice homey feel and if you double-click on the second photo you can see the "film" from the camera has a little sentiment stamped on it. This is definitely one of my favorite stamp sets (I'm sure this will not be the last time you see it!). I used a slight variation of a sketch challenge by My Favorite Things and went from there. These cards were part of the 14 thank you cards I made for my co-worker and I have one more set that I'll be showing in the next few days. I hope to have a little step-by-step tutorial for the last set, so I'll be busy working on that!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies:
Patterned Paper - My Mind's Eye (Indie Chic)
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Shutterbug Special)

Happy Birthday Roselle!

Hello Friends! Today is my sweet sister-in-law's birthday and I wanted to wish her a very Happy Birthday! This is the card I made for her and I sure hope she likes it! I just love the patterned paper because if you look closely it says Greetings from Sunny Delray Beach, and living in south Florida it's pretty cool to see a nearby city's name printed on beautiful scrapbook paper like that.

Roselle we hope that your birthday is filled with loving family, wonderful friends, and a day that is truly blessed. We love you!

Set of Thank You cards

Hello Friends! It's been a few days since my last post and I apologize for that! I've been working on a set of 14 Thank You cards for a co-worker and just completed them last night. I decided on 3 totally different designs with varying patterned papers. The cards today encompass one design and I will post the other two designs throughout the week.

I believe the art of the the Thank You card has been a little lost lately because it's so much easier to send a quick text or email to thank someone. But, I don't know about you but I love getting happy mail (happy mail would consist of just about anything except for a bill - LOL!). I think that people really appreciate receiving thank you cards because it lets them know that you really truly are thankful for what they did for you. I have a friend that ALWAYS sends thank you cards and each time I've received one it just made my day! That same friend recently sent me Oprah's Rules for Life After 35, please check out Rule #6. :-)

I hope you enjoyed today's post, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Coffee Anyone?

Hello Friends! Well anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE coffee so when I came across these stamps at Joann's I just had to have them! I made this card for my co-worker Amanda who gave me the cutest the little magnet for my cubicle that says "I {heart} coffee" and that just made me smile! So, I made her a quick thank you card to let her know how much I appreciate it. And, if you know Amanda this sentiment is definitely true about her! LOL!

The coffe image is a stamp from Hero Arts and the sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo. Those beautiful patterned papers are from the Delighful collection by Authentique. I'm sure I will be using these stamps again and again, I hope you don't get too bored with them!

Have a great day everyone and I thanks so much for stopping by!

Bon Voyage

Ahhh, just thinking about a cruise makes me happy! I made this card with those happy thoughts in mind. My honey and I have taken several cruises over the years and we both say that it's the best way to take a vacation. It's so relaxing, and you don't have to spend time thinking about when or where you're going to eat or what you're going to do that day because it's pretty much all done for you. We just like to sit on the deck with our umbrella drinks and just chill. Oh goodness, now that talking about this, I really want to plan another one!! LOL!

This card was made using the Postmarks stamp set by Papertrey Ink and the palm tree I believe is a stamp by Hero Arts. This was a fun card to make and cross your fingers that another cruise will be in my immediate future! Have a great day friends, and thank you so much for stopping by!

Another Mo Manning Image

Hello Friends! I'm back with another sweet image from Mo's Digital Pencil. This little cutie was colored with Copic markers and the patterned paper is an older collection from Cosmo Cricket. I hope you all are having a great start to the work week and I hope to have more craftiness to share in the coming days. Have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by!
