Crafting with heat transfer vinyl

Hello Friends! I wanted to pop in quickly today to share a cute project made with heat transfer vinyl (HTV). If you're not familiar with HTV, you are missing out on some fun! There are ton of videos on YouTube if you're interested. So, I recently purchased some gold glitter HTV and I could not wait to use it! I had some canvas totes that I bought from Michael's forever ago, and decided to finally open the package and use one for this project. I wanted to do something for the awesome young lady that braids my daughter's hair, so I cut out the name of her business along with a design from the Silhouette Design Store using my Silhouette Cameo. I'm not fortunate enough to have a heat press so I used my trusty home iron to transfer the vinyl onto the tote.
I was able to get the cutest model I know to hold the bag for me! :-) I really love how this turned out and the glitter vinyl looks amazing in person. I can't wait to give it to her and  you can follow her on instagram @ohmibraids to see her awesome work!

Well, it's shaping it to be a HOT day here. I hope you're staying cool and enjoying the sunshine as well! Have a great day!

Hugs,
Carol

End of year teacher gifts

Hello Friends! Long time, no blogging LOL!! I hope you all have been doing well and getting your craft on! Don't get me wrong, I've definitely been crafting but I think I've become light-weight addicted to Instagram!! If you're not following me there, please do - @carolscustomcards. :-)

Today, I have an end of the year teacher gift that was really fun to make. I ordered some galvanized baskets from WalMart and just filled that sucker up! I added a magazine, a very pretty water bottle from The Pioneer Woman (also from WalMart), Godiva chocolate, Bath and Body Works lotion, custom pencils from Bossy Joscie that said "wake up, teach kids, be awesome" and an Amazon gift card. I added each teacher's name to the outside of the basket using my Silhouette and vinyl, put it inside a clear gift bag and tied it with some ribbon. I made a total of 6 baskets and I was just so happy to let each teacher know what a blessing they have been in our daughter's life.

I love how these baskets turned out and giving is such a wonderful feeling! I hope you let your child's teacher know how much you appreciate them in your own special way as the school year comes to an end.

I hope you have a great Friday and if you're in the states, a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!!

Hugs,
Carol

MFT Card Design Superstar - Coloring Virtuoso

Hello Friends! I'm back today with my second card for the MFT Card Design Superstar contest. I wasn't sure if I would get this posted in time because after Hurricane Irma we had no internet service for a week. Trust me, I'm not complaining because I know things could have been so much worse. I'm just happy that we were spared and I continue to pray for all of those who have been in harm's way this hurricane season.

My card today is for the Coloring Virtuoso part of the contest.
I used the A Phone Call Away stamp set and since I don't have MFT patterned paper, I made my own with some stamps from the Stay Tuned set. That Pure Innocence girl is just too cute!! I colored her with Copic markers and added some wink of stella for a little sparkle on the telephone. Wish me luck!!

I hope you have a great evening and thanks so much for stopping by!

MFT Card Design Superstar - Clean and Simple Submission

WOW! It's been a LONG time since my last post! I can't make excuses, so I won't. The good thing is, I have been creating but I've been posting on Instagram - it's just so darn easy! But, I am here today with a card that I made to submit to MFT's Card Design Superstar contest. This is my take on a Clean and Simple card which is pretty tough for me because I love patterned paper like nobody's business! I couldn't bring myself to do a ton of white space, but I'm still pretty happy with the result.

I used Cookie Crumbles from MFT along with the matching dies. I'm entering the contest today, so wish me luck! I hope to start blogging again regularly after Hurricane Irma passes. Pray for us down here in Florida!

I hope you have a great weekend and thanks so much for stopping by!

Sympathy card

Hello Friends! I hope you had a great weekend. My weekend was wonderful, I spent a lot of time with my family which is always a good thing. We started Paige in gymnastics and she spends an hour at the gym on Saturday's. We definitely had to do something so she can use up some of her awesome energy! She really enjoys it and it's cute to see her on the balance beam and running under the uneven bars! LOL!

So, I made a set of cards for my mom a while ago and she always asks for Sympathy cards. I usually have a tough time with sympathy cards because I put so much pressure on myself to make them as pretty as possible. With this card I decided that less is more and now that I have a new heat gun, I decided to do some heat embossing.
I used patterned paper from Papertrey Ink which had the gold embossed frame. I added the beautiful flower using Happy Words from Concord & 9th and the sentiment is also from PTI. The card is simple but I think it has a sweet and sincere feel to it. My mom said she loved it and at the end of the day, it's all about making your "customer" happy! :-)

Well, I wish you all a happy Monday and thank you so much for stopping by!

Princess Carriage

Hello Friends! I hope that all of you are doing well. Unfortunately for me, I've been under the weather and taking antibiotics. It sucks when you live in the sunshine state, and have a terrible, terrible cold! But, I'm getting my rest on and taking my meds and I hope to be back to my old self again very soon.

Today, I have the cutest project to share. My friend recently had a party for her daughter's 9th birthday, and it wasn't just any party it was a spa party with a Cinderella theme! Talk about awesome! All of the girls at the party got manicures, pedicures, massages, make-up the whole spa package. So, with this lovely theme, my friend asked me to make party favors. Of course I went right to my Silhouette and found this sweet princess carriage favor box.
My friend absolutely loved how this turned out! The gold glitter paper really put it over the top and the colors matched her overall theme exactly. I ended up making 18 of these cute carriages and my friend decided to put Hershey kisses inside and the kisses ending up being the same blue color...talk about coordinating everything! I asked my friend if I could be her daughter because this was one heck of a party! LOL!

Well my friends, that's it for me today. Hopefully, I'll be feeling better soon so I can get back to crafting! Have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by!
